Nokia Productions FAQ

Q. Are there clearer instructions for getting involved?
A. We've included a Take a Tour section for simple, step-by-step instructions. Click here to go through it.

Q. Can I participate without submitting content?
A. If you don’t want to contribute content, you can still help out by viewing, chatting and voting for your favorite entries.

Q. Can I submit work directly from my phone?
A. Absolutely. Find out how.

Q. I submitted a video to Jumpcut but it’s not showing up in the Nokia Productions group.
A. Whether you submit a video or photo, make sure to check the Nokia Productions Group box before you upload it.

Q. I saw the word “sweepstakes.” How do I enter and what can I win?
A. There are multiple prizes for participation. Here’s how to enter and win.

Q. Do I have to shoot video and photos using only my phone?
A. While we encourage you to use your mobile device, you don’t necessarily have to.

Q. If someone includes my submission in their Act, will I get credit?
A. If you create and upload original content, it will be “tagged” so that each time someone else edits it into their Act, you’ll be given credit for it.

Q. Can I participate without submitting an Act?
A. If you don’t want to contribute a full Act, you can still help us collaborate by submitting original content for others to mix into their Acts. You can also help out by viewing, chatting and voting for your favorite Acts.

Q. What if I want to submit something that doesn’t fit the theme?
A. Humanity is the central theme. If you have a video, photo, music or anything else that doesn’t relate but you would like to share, go ahead and submit it. You never know, someone might incorporate your piece with their Act and make it fit just perfectly.

Q. Do I have to be an Act winner to make it into Spike’s final cut?
A. Spike has creative control over his film. He might see something he likes that’s not an Act winner and decide to include it.

Q. When and where will Spike’s Final Cut premiere?
A. The film will premiere in L.A. in Fall 2008. It will also premiere on the site for everyone to view.

Q. When I upload content to Jumpcut, it prompts me to mark my piece as "Public" or "Open". What does that mean?
A. "Public" means that you are submitting your content to Nokia Productions for others to mix into their creations. They are able to edit around your work, but not able to modify it. Submitting your content as "Open," however, allows people to alter your original piece. To avoid people changing your work, be sure to mark it as "Public."
